COVID 2020: Nothing's Gonna Stop Us!
Thanks to the expert skills of the team at Christchurch Winchester the Schools Assembly Team have been able to continue to flourish during the challenges of 2020. Please find below links to the School Assemblies that have been produced and are actively being used by schools across the Deanery:
One quarter of Anglican churches in the UK have no under 16s at all. Two thirds have 5 or less. But children across Winchester Deanery (except 5 primary schools) are regularly hearing about Jesus, so let’s keep going. Remember the teacher in one school who turned to a teacher (who’s a Christian) after one of the Deanery assemblies and said, ‘It almost makes me want to become a Christian’. Please keep praying for breakthrough in children and teachers’ lives!
I'm part of the Schools Team and recently went to St Bedes school - where my children went as I live in Hyde. After the schools team assembly I was approached by a parent to say their 10 year old said after school "You never told me Perry was religious?", other children have recognised me having food in the pub and I've engaged with them about our assembly and seen that they enjoyed the 'fun part' egg and spoon or chocolate bar quiz and understood what Christians believe.
I've also spoken with neighbour's children as we pass on the street and their response has been very similar "fun", "silly", "new", "different", and I've asked for their opinion on the characters we portrayed. The benefit of interacting with children is that you get the chance to share the experience with parents.
It is plain that God is at work.
It's a privilege to be in the schools team and see the engaged and captivated faces of the children we share with.
