ARCHIVE The 2014-2017 Mission Action Plan
Looking back on the 2014-2017 Mission Action Plan
Mission Action Planning is vital as we face the challenges of changing demographics and declining Christian affiliation. The four Diocesan Strategic Priorities developed in 2013 provide the framework for the setting of our objectives and priorities as we work to support and enable the development of mission in the parishes.
The first dMAP was approved by Deanery Synod in November 2014, revised in 2015 and used as a basis for the development of Parish / Benefice Mission Action Plans. The latest version of the dMAP is available in Black & White or Colour via the buttons below:

The Winchester dMAP - why?
The formulation of the Winchester Deanery Mission Action Plan (dMAP) was part of a Diocesan-wide programme held throughout 2014, where each Deanery within the Diocese was tasked with developing a dMAP which would set out the key priorities it would follow over the next 5 years. Each dMAP would take the four Diocesan Strategic Priorities as its foundation stones, and using them as the structure, formulate a set of actions and aspirations that were Deanery-specific. Each Deanery Mission Action Plan was then presented at a special service held by the Diocese in Winchester Cathedral on 22 November 2014.
How the Winchester dMAP developed
The Winchester Deanery Mission Action Plan (dMAP) began its journey at the Deanery Day held on 5 October 2013 (see here for notes). In the early part of 2014, the Deanery Mission & Pastoral Committee began to draw up a programme which would enable us to complete our dMAP in time. In the Spring of 2014, a consultation process began in earnest with a survey (click here to download) which was sent out to all Parishes, schools and a number of key organisations across the City to gather information and gauge their views on where we were now, and where we could engage further. This key information enabled the Mission & Pastoral Committee to create a framework which could be used to consult further with the Deanery Synod and the key 'movers and shakers' in each Parish. The consultation continued with an event on 26 June where over 100 people from church, community and business were invited (click here) to debate, discuss and brainstorm the proposal (click here for briefing note). The event was held at the Winchester Vineyard Church and was a very lively and interesting occasion which produced a huge amount of data. The DMPC then took all the output and drew up a Briefing Note for PCCs to comment on which was issued to PCCs in early September 2014. By the end of September all feedback had been received and the DMPC began the process of incorporating all the feedback received into the final document.
The dMAP approved by Deanery Synod
Version 1 of the dMAP was debated at the Synod Meeting in November. At that meeting a number of amendments were proposed and incorporated (for details see Synod Minutes for 15 November 2014). The amended dMAP was then put to the vote and approved by the Synod. This version (currently Version II) can be found at the top of this page.
